BAMBOO ART AND CRAFT FROM MISIONES, ARGENTINA BY EDUARDO VEDIO
Preparation

The cane is first dried with fire and cleaned with solvent, after it follows a 20 day period of sun drying to avoid the emergence of fungus. The cane is then cut as needed and decorated with basic pyrographic patterns as seen in the tacuara chimes and the short vertical incense burners (loquitos).

Bamboo cane has a natural wax that makes its finish shine and can be restored by rubbing it with a flannel. Bamboo root is used in the small vertical incense burners to hold the incense stick.

Seeds are used in the making of chimes, classic insence burners, dreamcatchers. Strong bamboo is used in the making of walking sticks, rain poles and lamps. The lianas used in these same lamps have been sculpted by termites, these lamps have been varnished.
